Bidarki Recreation Center Rules of Use

Bidarki Recreation Center is a public facility intended for the use of City of Cordova residents and visitors.  The Recreation Center is a welcoming and safe place.  Please take the time to read over a few simple rules to help things run smoothly and make sure everyone enjoys all our Center has to offer. Participants of the Bidarki Recreation Center are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that most people would find reasonable and that does not infringe on the enjoyment of others.

Your Membership

  • Remember your membership card. Swiping your membership card is required and makes checking-in fast and easy.
  • Day users are required to pay the appropriate admission fee.
  • The minimum age for entry to the Center unsupervised is 12 years. The minimum age to use the fitness equipment is 14 years, unless supervised by an adult, and the minimum age to use the sauna is 16 years.
  • Court reservations are held ten minutes past reservation time. After 10 minutes reservations are forfeited.

Your Belongings

  • It’s up to you to keep your personal belongings safe – we encourage you to leave your gear in the lockers provided, using your own lock, during your workout. Lockers are for day use only and will be cleaned out every night.
  • Bags cannot be taken into workout areas as they may become hazardous to yourself or others.
  • The City of Cordova is not responsible for lost or stolen property.

Your Wellbeing

  • Your safety when using our Recreation Center is important to us. Be considerate and respectful to other users and staff – it helps make our Center a safer, more enjoyable place for everyone.
  • People who are exhibiting symptoms of any illness should stay home and refrain from using the Center.
  • You must wear closed toe shoes and appropriate clothing at all times. For hygiene reasons we encourage you to work out with a towel.
  • Dunking or hanging on the basketball rims is not permitted.
  • Equipment wipe-down towels and sanitizer are compulsory in workout areas. Sweat is good, working out in someone else’s isn’t!
  • Food and glass water bottles are not permitted in workout areas or in the gymnasium. Plastic water bottles are encouraged.
  • Please respect our equipment by wiping down machines/mats/benches after use and returning free weights to the correct locations. Do not purposely drop free weights or machine stacks.  You may be asked to pay for equipment you damage through careless use.
  • Please report any health and safety issues in the first instance to the nearest staff member or call the Recreation Center on (907) 424-7282 during business hours.
  • Please do not photograph, film, or otherwise record other members or staff without their consent, and the prior consent of the Director of Parks and Recreation. Use of phones in changing facilities is strictly prohibited.
  • Our Recreation Center is smoke, vape, alcohol and drug-free. Anyone deemed to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will not be allowed entry.
  • We also expect our customers to behave in a safe and responsible manner to all staff and customers, and to treat the facility with care and respect.
  • Please do not drag equipment or other heavy objects across the floors. Take care not to scratch the floors.
  • Amplified music must be kept at reasonable levels. Users are recommended to bring their own device and headphones when listening to music.
  • There are specific rules for use of the Saunas. Please make yourself familiar with them if you intend to use the sauna.

Your Rights

  • If you have any concerns or complaints about service, a staff member, or our facility, please speak to the front desk and we’ll put you in touch with the appropriate manager. We may ask you to put your complaint in writing.

Our Rights

  • Our rules are for the safety and wellbeing of all our users, and our staff – which we take very seriously. Anyone who fails to comply with the rules will result in a verbal warning and/or removal from the Center.  Continued abuse of the rules may result in termination of membership.
  • At times we may have to or choose to close parts or all of the Center for repairs, general maintenance, refurbishment, health and safety or emergencies.
